Wynonna Earp Season 2 Review
If you read my last post “5 Characters Who Deserve Their Own
Spin-Off Adventure” I have to say thank you for reading and now returning, also
if you read my last post you would have seen me profess my love for Wynonna
Earp and last night (Tuesday 12th of September) was 2 weeks since
the UK finale of Wynonna Earp Season 2, I have waited for now so that people
could catch up but I can hold my tongue no longer. I need to speak out about my
love for this show and what I truly thought of season 2 of Wynonna Earp. Beware
of spoilers.
There is one massive point from this season, to us
self-confessed Earpers we know this but if you didn’t know Melanie Scrofano did
Season 2 while pregnant. Her pure passion bled through every scene and in my
opinion deserves award and recognition for the scene where Wynonna gave up
Alice; the pure passion showed through her performance was outstanding. I also
want to take this moment to say…
Melanie if you are
reading this THANK YOU. We saw the tweet where you poured your heart out and I
have to say thank you for standing up and giving us a great show you are an
inspiration to people all over the world and most of all thank you for getting
us season 3 because it has to be your passionate performance that gave us
season 3. Most of all you shouldn’t worry that you got to use your words
“knocked up”, we wouldn’t object to that we just want our sassy, badass woman
doing what she does best. I realise Melanie will likely never see this but this
had to be said.
This season saw the addition of Rosita played by Tamara
Duarte and Jeremy played by Varun Saranga two great additions we have the
loveable nerd Jeremy and the hot-blooded feisty female Rosita. Both interesting
and loveable characters but for me the winner of the battle of the newcomers is
Rosita. Don’t get me wrong I loved Jeremy I relate to him quite well, the nerdy
references and the quirky personality speak to me well but there is still a lot
of unknowns about him at this point of time, but the Tamara’s performance made
me fall in love with a revenant. From day one I felt the revenants are evil and
deserve the harsh justice handed out by Wynonna, then we meet Rosita, fall for
the strong woman and then finding out she is a revenant throwing my whole judgement
of revenants on its head.
Then we had Doc (Tim Rozon) giving up his immortality, Dolls
(Shamier Anderson) exploring his dragon-demon powers, Nicole (Katherine
Barrell) is married and Waverly (Dominique Provost-Chalkley) isn’t an Earp
(biologically), all these points have only been touched and I am sure there is
going to be many great stories coming from these stories. The one thing I will
say against the finale was the Cliffhanger. Now finding out Wynonna has been in
touch with her and Waverly’s mother all this time was a great twist but the
season 1 ending hooked me more. Season one raised more questions but Season 2
has ended setting up one massive quest to kill Bulshar and end the Earp curse
once and for all.
Overall I give season 2 an 8.9 out of 10.00, I have high
hopes for season 3 and I can see the series running for another 5 seasons at
the minimum. My season 3 hopes are we find out what Dolls really is, we have to
find out who Waverly’s father is, after finding out Nicole has a wife makes me
think what other secrets is she hiding? Doc will need to be more careful no
he’s no longer immortal, we need to see Wynonna go all mother bear; maybe
someone steals Alice and she goes full on badass to get her back. I want to see
Rosita return I love her and Tamara is just so perfect as her. I’ve heard some
rumours of who should be “Mamma Earp” most interesting being Lucy Lawless AKA
Xena, now this would be awesome and I would have a massive nerd moment if we
saw it happen. However one actress I haven’t seen in the rumours but I
personally think would be great and I would love to see Stana Katic; With
Castle over she would be free and it would be another strong Canadian actress I
just feel it could work well. AND WE NEED A WAYHAUGHT WEDDING.
